Take Action to Reauthorize the Generalized System of Preferences

Your voice matters! Congress needs to hear that GSP reauthorization is critical for the bike industry.

Ask Congress to Reauthorize Generalized System of Preferences

Since December 31, 2020, the bike industry has had to pay full duty on imported products. You can ask Congress to reauthorize GSP and recover these duties.

The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) that eliminated import duties on products from developing countries lapsed on December 31, 2020. Since then, bike industry companies like yours have had to pay full duty on these products and flag imports to recover those payments if and when GSP is reauthorized.

Despite repeated pleas from multiple industries, including ours, Congress has failed to reauthorize GSP for more than three years. While bills have been introduced, none have advanced. In some cases, bills failed to require retroactive reauthorization, meaning all duties your company has paid since 2020 would not be refunded.

You can help amplify the demand for the retroactive reauthorization of GSP to a level that Congress can no longer ignore. Take action today by contacting your elected representatives to ask them to reauthorize GSP and make it retroactive to January 1, 2021.
